The Tourism Coordination Centre of 14+1 cooperation is pleased to announce the winners of the fourth edition of the Tourism Award Marco Polo. By the decision of the international Jury in which the Croatian Tourist Board, in addition to being a member of the 14+1 cooperation, was also one of the members of the Jury that participated in deciding on the fourth edition of the winner’s tourist award.
The winners of the international competition are:
- Hotel category: Hotel Hills Sarajevo from Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Travel Agency category: Traces of Greece from Greece
- National and Regional Tourism Organization: Greek National Tourism Organization, China Office
The Hotel Mercure Budapest Hotels, i.e., Hotel Mercure Budapest Korona, Hotel Mercure Budapest City Center and Hotel Mercure and Ibis Budapest Castle Hill, were awarded HONORARY MENTION of Marco Polo.
The Tourism Award Marco Polo was launched in 2019 to acknowledge the contribution of tourism stakeholders of the then 17 CEE countries to creating the best joint tourism product for the Chinese market.
In 2022, because of the pandemic, the Jury decided to shift the focus of the award and welcomed applications that introduced innovative activities that they started during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to retain the interest of Chinese travellers in the CEE region and/or any new product or service that has been created to attract the attention of post-COVID Chinese travellers. The applications had to reflect that the business entity studies the emerging new trends in China and should target those segments of Chinese travellers whose interest matches the sophisticated supply of the CEE countries.
The Jury was seeking creative and innovative ideas that helped to overcome the serious cause of the pandemic and turn the negative effects into something new, unique and promising.
The Tourism Coordination Centre of 14+1 congratulates the winners on their success, the more so because - due to the Covid-19 pandemic – the applications were elaborated amidst very difficult conditions for international tourism.
The winners are requested to proudly wear the banner: “Tourism Award Marco Polo, with the recommendation of China-CEEC’s Tourism Cooperation” for one year in their communication.
The Croatian Tourist Board is a member of The Tourism Coordination Centre of 14+1 cooperation between China and 14 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and for many years it has jointly carried out numerous activities aimed at the Chinese market and Chinese guests.
