As of today, Croatia has two more restaurants with a prestigious MICHELIN star. Namely, the restaurants Boškinac (Novalja) and LD Terrace (Korčula) were awarded one MICHELIN star, while the restaurants Pelegrini (Šibenik), 360º (Dubrovnik), Monte (Rovinj), Noel (Zagreb) and Draga di Lovrana (Lovran) retained their stars. Moreover, two more restaurants were added to the Bib Gourmand list, and therefore Croatia can boast a total of 70 restaurants with the MICHELIN label. This is the result of secret visits to Croatian restaurants by professional MICHELIN inspectors, globally the most significant and recognized guide to restaurants on which pages the list for Croatia is published.
“We are extremely proud that as of today, Croatia has a total of seven restaurants with the prestigious MICHELIN star, and that Novalja and Korčula have been added to Croatian destinations which boast authentic and exceptionally high-quality culinary offer. MICHELIN is a worldwide synonym for excellence in gastronomy, and Croatia is a land of top gastronomic offer, which is nowadays becoming an increasingly important motive for the arrival and return of guests to their destination. I am sure of the great promotional effects of all the MICHELIN labels that can also serve as an encouragement for the further development and nurturing of our traditional flavours”, said the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, adding his sincere congratulations to all awarded and selected restaurants, especially restaurant owners and employees of Boškinac and LD Terrace, whose work and creativity were recognized by MICHELIN’s inspectors.
The international director of the MICHELIN Guide, Gwendal Poullennec, commented on the selection of Croatian restaurants and the Croatian gastronomy on the official MICHELIN website.
MICHELIN labels Bib Gourmand, in addition to last year's restaurants Batelina (Banjole), Konoba Vinko (Konjevrate), Agava (Zagreb) and TAČ (Zagreb), this year were awarded to Konoba Škoj (Šolta) and Zlatne Gorice (Varaždin Breg). This label is assigned to restaurants offering quality menus at affordable prices.
"The new MICHELIN recognitions confirms that the Croatian culinary scene is developing from year to year, and is also a great reward for all who continually work to improve the quality of preparation, presentation and creation of the overall culinary experience. Croatia is continuously building the image of a recognizable culinary destination based on exceptional diversity of regional culinary identities. According to the Food Travel Monitor survey, as many as 93 percent of tourists participated in a “special food and beverage experience” during the tourist trip, which indicates that gastronomy is nowadays a content for which almost all tourists are interested. That is why we will pay special attention in the next strategic period to wine and gastronomy sectors, by connecting the producers and caterers, and stronger branding and additional positioning of Croatia as a new culinary icon of Europe”, said the Minister of Tourism, Gari Cappelli.
