According to the first results registered via the eVisitor system, which contains tourist registration data in both the commercial and non-commercial segment and for nautical charters, over the long weekend the number of tourists registered in Croatia numbered over the period from 19th till 22nd June was 185,389 arrivals and 842,659 overnight stays, marking an average of 210,000 tourists daily in Croatia.
"We have entered the high-season, and Croatia is among a handful of Mediterranean countries where at the moment tourist visits are being recorded and we should be proud of this fact. The health and safety protocol against the corona virus has been set at a high level across the country. By respectingg the efforts and recommendations of the competent professional services led by the Croatian Institute of Public Health, we will ensure a safe summer tourist season is achieved, while marking an increase of daily visitor arrivals, it is up to all of us, both local residents and tourists to behave responsibly and adhere to all prescribed epidemiological measures", said CNTB director Kristjan Staničić, adding that promotional activities targetted towards the domestic market will commence in a few days.
Of the total number of overnight stays, domestic tourists mark 23% of the overnights, and foreign 77% of which the most tourists were from Germany (202 thousand nights, 24% share in total overnights), Slovenia (168 thousand overnights, 20% share), Austria (79 thousand overnights, 9% share) and the Czech Republic (63 thousand overnights, 7% share).
When broken down by county, the highest number of overnights was recorded in Istria County (258 thousand, 31%), followed by Primorsko-Goranska County (200 thousand, 24%) and Zadar County (144,000, 17%), while by the most overnights by destination were marked in Rovinj (44 thousand overnights), Vir (35 thousand overnights), Medulin (27 thousand overnights), Mali Lošinj (26 thousand overnights) and Poreč (25 thousand overnights).
We can add that during the long weekend, the most overnights were registered in household facilities (31%, 263 thousand overnights), camps (26%, 218 thousand overnights) and in hotels (13%, 112 thousand overnights).
