Franka Gulin, Director of the CNTB Representative office in China, has been appointed as the new Chair of ETC’s China Chapter which marked its 10th anniversary of ETC‘s presence in China. The celebration of this valuable anniversary was attended by numerous members of the ETC and more than 70 representatives from the tourism industry, including representatives of tour operators, agencies, airlines and media in China.
"We are extremely glad that the celebration of this valuable anniversary brought together representatives of the most important tourism stakeholders, so this was also a great opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between Chinese and European partners. Although the current circumstances continue to hamper tourist flows, in this period we must work to maintain the visibility of European destinations in China's large market. I am sure that Croatia will soon be available again to Chinese lovers of travel, which are mostly attracted to our country by its rich cultural and historical heritage and preserved nature“, said Gulin.
Eduardo Santander, CEO of ETC, also greeted all present via video message, emphasizing the excellent work done by ETC in the Chinese market over the past 10 years. "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, and our first step took place in China 10 years ago and in that period we faced many opportunities, but also challenges. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the partners in China and Europe for their joint efforts in building a solid bridge of friendship between China and Europe“, said Santander.
Let us add that the ETC Branch in China, along with Franka Gulin as Chair, also consists of Vice Chairs David Wu (Finland) and Tiago Brito (Portugal). Together, the team will consolidate the activities of ETC in China, whose role is to leverage European destinations’ promotional activities by setting up effective platforms for joint marketing, access to market intelligence, exchange of best practices, cooperation and relationships between the Chinese and the European travel and tourism industry.
We would like to remind you that the ETC was founded in 1948 with its headquarters in Brussels, and in addition to European tourism organizations, it also brings together associate members from the private sector, i.e. agencies, carriers and other tourism service providers. The main goal of the ETC is to improve tourism policies at the level of the European Union and to further promote Europe as the world's leading tourist destination. We would also like to remind you that the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, was elected as Vice-President of the ETC in September last year.
