The Russian edition of the National Geographic Traveler magazine included Croatia among the top 3 best tourist destinations for a family vacation! It is a traditional annual award ceremony “Top Travel Destinations” that the National Geographic magazine has been organising for the sixth year, and this year’s one was held in Moscow.  It is important to note that the prize is awarded according to Russian tourists’ online votes, and this is the second year in a row that Croatia has been placed among top three destinations in this category (“Best Family Destination”).  In the name of the Croatian National Tourism Board the award was received by the Director of the Representative Office in Moscow, Rajko Ružička, and the importance of this award and the Russian market in general is also underlined by the Director of the CNTB Head Office, Ratomir Ivičić.

“In the last few years the Russian market has been in very specific conditions that significantly impeded our business on that market. However, the Croatian National Tourist Board did not give up on Russian tourists, and in accordance with our announcements and expectations, this year we have stopped the dropping trend of Russian tourists coming to Croatian destinations. This award confirms that we can count on Russian tourists, especially those whose travel motive is a family vacation”, stated the Director Ivičić.

Together with the award for family tourism, National Geographic is also presents in categories such as “Beach Vacation”, “Mountain Skiing Vacation", “Sightseeing Vacation”, “Agrotourism”, “Wellness Vacation”, “Eco-Vacation”, “Adventure Tourism", “Russian Tourism”, “Discovery of the Year”, “Gastronomic Tourism” and “Exotic Tourism”. In addition to the awards connected to the destinations themselves, the magazine’s readers choose winners in categories such as “Best Foreign Airline”, “Best Russian Airline”, “Best Hotel Chain”, “Best Beach Hotel”, “Best Internet Service” and “Best Travel Program on TV”.

So this year in the category of the “Best Travel Program on TV” the winner was the TV program “Poedem Poedim” by the Russian federal television company NTV. It is a program with one of the highest audience ratings, and one episode was filmed in Croatia this year, in locations in Zagreb and Istria.

Let’s remember that this is not the only recognition for Croatian tourism this year on the Russian market. Namely, the Association of National Tourist Office Representatives (ANTOR), whose Council each year presents awards in several categories, this year awarded the Representative Office of the Croatian National Tourist Board in Moscow in the category of the most successful and most attractive national tourist offices.
