Wanderlust, one of the most reputable and long-lasting travel magazines globally, celebrated the best in travel at the 23rd Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards prestigious ceremony at the iconic Tate Modern. Record-breaking 168,000 Wanderlust readers casting a combined total of over 3 million votes awarded Croatia with four accolades among the top 5 most desirable islands, cities, regions, and countries. Last evening’s grand ceremony hosted by acclaimed comedian, actor and travel-show presenter Jack Whitehall, honoured Croatia as the second most desirable country in Europe, ahead of France, Spain and Greece, while Croatian islands, city of Dubrovnik, and the island of Hvar also won silver, bronze and 5th position, respectively.
Croatia has been a permanent fixture at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards rankings in recent years, and after last year’s highly coveted top spot as the most desirable country in Europe, this quadruple awards success shows Croatia is among the most established industry heavy-weights and hard-hitters. Once again, Wanderlust readers hailed Croatia and threw the spotlight on the magnificent 1,244 islands lapped by the crystalline Adriatic Sea, also elevated by Dubrovnik and the country’s versatility.
Bisera Fabrio, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board’s representative office in London reaffirmed this acknowledgement and said: ‘We are extremely proud for being recognized as one of the top destinations in Europe by Wanderlust readers, who are curious and engaged travellers. This recognition, in multiple categories, makes us even more dedicated to our continued promotion of both the hidden gems and well-known areas of our beautiful country. We strive to preserve Croatia’s renowned authenticity, and our scenic landscapes which are an ideal backdrop for numerous new discoveries and cultural pursuits for all visitors to enjoy.’
The awards further amplified Croatian tourism triumph at the World Travel Market in London, world's leading travel industry event, adding to Croatia’s premium status on the tourism stage, globally.
