Dear friends of tourism, respected tourism workers and all travel lovers,

today, we all together and with great pride, mark and celebrate the World Tourism Day, on which occasion I would like to send you my sincere congratulations for the overall contribution you are making again and again in one of the most important economic sectors in the world.

This year, the World Tourism Day is marked by the theme "Tourism and Peace", so in accordance with that, I would like to point out that international cooperation, proactivity, togetherness, preservation of indigenous values, but also goodwill are what we all greatly need in these challenging times.

With joint forces, we have the opportunity to raise awareness of tourism as a protagonist in the shaping of social, cultural, political and economic values, and in this way achieve the peaceful and stable growth of tourism as an important economic branch.

In addition, we should not forget about all the tourism stakeholders,  such as tourist boards, tour operators, organizations and institutions whose modus operandi lies precisely in the protection and improvement of the tourism industry, bringing people together and providing authentic experiences.

Of course, the Croatian tourism sector is also dedicated to this and strives every day to realize the visions and missions from the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy till 2030, and there is also the new Strategic Marketing and Operational Plan for Croatian Tourism till 2027, a document that contains promotional guidelines, activities and the new development direction of Croatian tourism.

We at the Croatian National Tourist Board firmly believe that tourism, both domestic and global is nearing a turning point. That is why understanding, motivation and respect between countries and people are paramount, aiming to create a better and more peaceful tomorrow.

For this reason, I invite you all to join our efforts to transform our community in the most positive way, in accordance with green, economic and cultural norms, until the next September 27th, that is, the next celebration of World Tourism Day. Because as our world changes, so will our tourism.

M.Sc. Kristjan Staničić,
Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board
